Sunset Paintings
My wife Lisa and I love to head to the shore to catch the “rays,” feel the warm sand under our feet, and watch the waves roll in. I will occasionally venture into the ocean when I muster enough courage to withstand the frigid water. Once the sun sets, the sky becomes multi-colored, like an artist's palette. I took photos, and then took liberties on canvas with what I saw through the lens. Colors were altered or exaggerated somewhat, but not by much. I didn't have to since Mother Nature put on a splendid sky show. Landside would sometimes become desert, open road or a tropical island. Light was the key. I tried to capture how the light unfolded on clouds and water. These paintings were done with oil on canvas.
